The HTC Sensation XL as its name implies has one of the biggest screens on the mobile market. The gargantum HTC Sensation XL comes equipped with a a 4.7-inch Super LCD display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. Despite lower resolution than the Sensation XE’s qHD display, colors seems impressively vibrant with deep contrast. The giant display is housed within the phone’s svelte 9.9mm thick casing, although not as slim as Galaxy S II’s 8.49 mm. Under the hood you will find a 1.5Ghz single core processor, despite the Sensation XE packs 1.2Ghz dual core processor. However, you will not be disappointed because the processor is capable of handling any task that was thrown at it.
The handset is shipped with Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread), with HTC Sense 3.5 user interface. Bundled with the usual active lockscreen and loads of widgets, HTC brings exclusive apps to Sensation XL such as FriendStream social networking integration and its HTC Watch video-on-demand service. The improved homescreen widget enables virtual row of easy-to-access app shortcut and a brand new weather widget. Following the footsteps of Sensation XE, the Sensation XL is integrated with Beats Audio technology, which consists of bundled Beats By Dre in-ear headphones and custom audio processing software. This results in heavy bass and super clear vocals, catered to work best with hip hop, dance and electronic music.
At the rear of the phone, you will discover the 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, auto-focus and BSI sensor for taking impressive photos even in poor lighting conditions. Thanks to the quick shutter speed, photos can be taken almost instantly. The camera is also capable of capturing 720p HD video. The smartphone comes with 16GB of internal storage (more like 12GB user available), Without support for external microSD cards. As for battery life, the large screens sucks the battery dry faster yet still managed to last a full day of average-heavy usage. Overall, hip hop and electronic music lovers will be won over, but the high-end price tag, cutbacks on processor/lower resolution screen and lack of external storage might be a huge turn off.
