Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Samsung Galaxy Nexus, one of the most highly anticipated handsets this year has created quite a stir because its the first to debut Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The new operating system brings a whole new look and feel to Android with simple and easy to use interface with refined animations and intuitive gestures make interactions engaging and interesting. We love the new enhancements in ICS including easy multitasking, rich notifications, customizable home screens, slick widgets, deep interactivity and adds powerful new ways of communicating and sharing.

Unlike the previous versions of Android OS with list of text with icons, everything has been revamped by big pictures and bold text. All the widgets can be customized and arranged the want you prefer. Featuring a dedicated recent apps button, users can easily switch between apps. With just a swipe of your finger, users can dismiss tasks that they do not require. Ice Cream Sandwich also has better voice integration, enhanced copy and paste functions and a new tabbed Web browser that allows up to 16 tabs.

The gorgeous Super AMOLED HD 720p display measures 4.65 inches with a 1,280×720-pixel resolution, ensuring the HD display is wonderfully bright and vivid with eye-catching colors. There’s immense power beneath the sleek surface too, with dual core 1.2GHz processor enabling apps launched immediately, menus opened instantly and most features took a couple of seconds to power up.  The unlocked version of the Galaxy Nexus has 16GB of internal memory, without an external memory slot.

Despite just having 5 megapixel camera, the full featured camera comes with auto focus, top notch low light performance and zero lag shutter. That also means users can open right from the locked screen and snap photo instantly. Photo quality was mostly satisfying, although color accuracy was uneven. The camera is also capable of capturing in panoramic mode. Creative users might find effects such as silly faces and background replacement interesting. Users will also be delighted with the HD Video camera capable of shooting video in full 1080p, featuring continuous focus, real-time zoom and time lapse mode to shoot stunning videos. After capturing photos, users can instantly upload and share with family and friends through Google+. There is also a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

Ice Cream Sandwich also continuously driving innovation forward, pushing the boundaries of communication and sharing with new capabilities and interactions. The New Android Beam enables users to share contacts, web pages, YouTube videos, directions, and apps just by touching two NFC-enabled Android phones back to back. We were also impressed with the Face Unlock with state-of-the-art facial recognition technology which allows users to get past the lock screen just by looking at it, without anything to type or swipe.

With tight integration to Android Market, users can explore more than 300,000 apps. For navigation, Google Maps can help users get around and find places to go. Overall, Galaxy Nexus is a sleek and powerful smartphone with polished and clean Android 4.0. Galaxy Nexus will be sold at Verizon Wireless stores and online for $299.99 with a new two-year customer agreement.
